Today we have so many ideas and theories of Jesus Christ and or God. Why are there so many ideas? Is Jesus God? Is Jesus co-equal and co-eternal with the Father? Did Jesus pre-exist before the foundation of the world or was His beginning with His physical birth here on earth? Did Jesus Christ take part in the creation? Who was the creator? You will find throughout scripture that in fact confirms the pre-existence, the creation, the creator, and Jesus Christ fellowship with the Father and His glory, and there is no confusion about it in the Bible! It is so vital to know the truth that our salvation depends on our belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God.
According to scriptures we find that Jesus was in the beginning with God before the world was, that is, from eternity, before any creation took place (John 17:24).
Apparently the false teachers in the church had been advocating inadequate views. The list that Paul gives of Christ are many, as translated in today’s English: Christ is “the visible likeness of the invisible God;” “He is the first born Son;” “superior to all created things;” “by Him God created everything;” “He existed before all things;” “in union with Him all things have their proper place;” “He is the head and source of life for the church;” “He was raised from the dead;” “The Son has in Himself the full nature of God;”
“Through Him God is at work reconciling all to Himself” (Colossian 1:15-23). “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature” (Colossians 1:15). An Image is a likeness, creates a representation of a person or thing (Webster’s Dictionary). The counterpart of God Almighty, and in the image of the invisible God, He is preeminent, omnipotent, and eternal, with the attribute, the full nature of God “Firstborn,” superior, the firstborn of the entire world, of all creation, the beginning, the Word or Spokesman.
John affirms both, he identifies Jesus as the eternal Son, the word, the Son of God, and He leaves no room for doubt. So “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, (His image). “The same was in the beginning with God” (John 1:1-2).
“And he was clothed with vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called “The Word of God” (Revelation 19:13). We find in Colossians that Christ was the first of everything, before any creature, the firstborn, and God Jehovah's creation, His son Jesus Christ. We see that there was a family of God before the foundation, so God and Christ cannot be "one" as so many teach. In John 17 as Christ prayed to Jehovah, Christ spoke of the love God had for Him before the foundation of the world was ever created. John spoke of Christ being with God from the beginning in John 1:1-2 as Christ is being called “the Word” as confirmed in Revelation 19:13. Can there be any other way to interpret these scriptures? It is stated so clear so simple, there is God Jehovah, and his first creation, Jesus Christ the son of the Living God, there cannot be any other way to explain this beginning.
Here we have God Jehovah and Jesus Christ the Son of God in existence from eternity, before any creation. Now according to scriptures, which then became the creator of the universe, man, and the animal kingdom?
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:14). “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature” (Colossians 1:15). “For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him” (Colossians 1:16). “And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 3:9). |
